TB & BUF: Trade #18.2 > |
Jets ended with
No. 3 – QB Sam Darnold
Colts ended with
No. 6 – OG Quentin Nelson
No. 37 – OT Braden Smith
No. 49 – Traded No. 49 for No. 52 (DE Kimoko Turay) and No. 169 (RB Jordan Wilkins)
2019 2nd Rd. Pick
Dictator’s Decree: “The Colts may go into the TDI Hall of Fame for this move. There is no difference between No. 3 and No. 6, and they picked up three additional 2nd round picks where quality starters can still be found. Quentin Nelson and Braden Smith could be the backbone of Indy’s OL for the next decade. #TDI Life!”– March 2019

Residents of Trade Down Island, please stand and join me in applause for the Indianapolis Colts! They didn’t just trade down once, they traded down twice! This strategy greatly pleases your dictator. Indy entered the draft with the No. 3 overall pick and parlayed that single pick into a rookie All-Pro guard (Nelson), an All-Rookie tackle (Smith), an intriguing defensive end (Turay), and a late-round running back (Wilkins) who appeared in all 16 games. Let’s not forget the Colts still have an additional 2019 2nd rounder as well. The Jets got Sam Darnold. They’d better hope he develops into a Pro Bowler in light of what the Colts were able to acquire after stepping foot on the warm, tropical beaches of Trade Down Island.
Trade #18.1 – Assets Exchanged
Jets received No. 3 (1st Rd.)
Colts receive: No. 6 (1st Rd.), No. 37 (2nd Rd.), No. 49 (2nd Rd.), 2019 2nd Round
Trade #18.1 – Draft Picks & Transactions

2018 Year-End Summary
The Jets did what they felt like they had to do in order to land the franchise quarterback they’ve needed for years now. But while Darnold could develop into a special player, after one season the Colts trade down strategy has clearly been more valuable. Indy seems to have shored up their offensive line for years to come while helping propel them to a wild card playoff victory this year. Vote below for which team won this draft day trade. I, as your benevolent dictator, refuse to influence the outcome of any democratic election, but if you vote for the Jets you will be invited to go deep-sea fishing with me.
You will be the chum.
Notes on statistics:
1. Approximate Value(“AV”) and Snap Counts (“Snap”) per Football Reference.
2. Snap Counts only list offensive and defensive snaps. Special teams snaps are excluded.
The Colts totally won this trade. Got two quality starting O linemen and an extra 2nd next year. Fleeced the Jets!!!!!
